ABOUT THE ROLE
The role is responsible for dealing with the Shipping/Receiving Department, distribution and shipping functions for the Chicago Plant This includes all raw material receipts, material staging and movement, order selecting and fulfillment, loading, documentation and scheduling. Manage all receiving, warehousing and shipping staff, systems, and procedures. This position is responsible for inventory control and accuracy for all freezers and coolers. This position may require employees to work non-traditional hours (nights, weekends, and holidays) to successfully meet customers' needs.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:
  • Receive and document inbound materials for production/inventory accuracy using designated receiving procedures
  • Assist with ensuring adequate staffing, direction, and discipline, as well as a safe work environment.
  • Assist with minimizing labor costs while providing timely service
  • Evaluate and adjust inventory levels.
  • Responsible for the proper slotting and rotation of raw materials/finished goods. Implement cycle counting and or physical inventories using inventory system reports and count sheets to ensure inventory accuracy
  • Inspect facility to assure adherence to safety and operating policies and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) using company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for training new Warehouse employees to be cross trained in all warehouse functions (Example: Loading, Picking, Receiving)
  • Assure the efficient and correct order fulfillment and loading of Crescent route trucks, Boxed Beef orders, and Will-Call
  • Schedule the receiving and delivery of raw materials in a timely manner.
  • Compliance with all local, state, national and bio terrorism regulations as they pertain to foodstuffs.
  • Maintain formal and informal communications to respond to the needs of the business.
  • Make sure department functions as a team to constantly improve both cost efficiencies and warehouse GMP's.
  • Determining proper staffing levels based upon volume and interviewing, hiring and training new employees.
  • Assist with the appraisal of employee performance; employee morale, disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • In the absence of the Dock Supervisor the Warehouse/Logistics Manager will fill – in
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:
  • Knowledge of state, local and federal food safety laws including SQF, USDA, GMP's, CCP, HACCP, SSOPs and SOPs, Food Defense and Food Safety Culture guidelines and regulations.
  • Time management, business acumen, collaboration, decision-making and always using ethical conduct
  • Proficient in standard business office software
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills Excellent oral and written communication skills • Fluency in written and verbal English
  • Proven ability to think independently and handle multiple projects through to completion Record of successfully collaborating with and influencing senior management and peers Demonstrated ability to lead and manage staff
  • Demonstrated independent work initiative, sound judgment, diplomacy, analytical ability and professional demeanor
  • Able to make effective presentations to diverse groups
  • Able to perform financial calculations and create and manage budgets
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 5 to 7 years of warehouse /inventory management experience
  • 1 - 3 years direct reports with supervisory experience

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
