About This Position

Quality Electrical Systems (QES) is a leading manufacturer of custom-engineered electrical distribution equipment, serving commercial, industrial, energy, and utility markets across the country. Our expertise includes low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical solutions, including custom switchgear, power distribution centers (PDCs), modular electrical housing (E-Houses), motor control systems, and variable frequency drive (VFD) systems.

As we continue to grow, we are always looking for top talent in the Electrical Engineering field, low voltage (480V) to Medium Voltage (5kV to 15kV) experience preferred.

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in medium-voltage systems to join our team. In this role, you will design and support the electrical components of QES products, including switchgear, PDCs, and modular housing units, ensuring they meet customer requirements, industry standards, and internal quality expectations.

This role is ideal for someone with hands-on engineering experience, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for building high-performance, custom electrical solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Design and develop medium-voltage electrical
systems, including switchgear, protection
schemes, distribution layouts, and control
integration.

• Support engineering and design of low- and
high-voltage components as needed for
full-system solutions.

• Produce engineering drawings, specifications,
wiring diagrams, and calculations in accordance
with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, UL, and customer
standards.

• Perform load analysis, arc-flash studies, and
short-circuit calculations using engineering
software such as SKM or ETAP.

• Partner with project managers, production
teams, and field technicians to support
manufacturing, installation, testing, and
commissioning of electrical products.

• Assist in troubleshooting electrical issues
related to switchgear, PDCs, VFD systems,
and modular electrical housing.

• Review customer technical documents and
requirements to ensure alignment with QES
capabilities and industry regulations.

• Prepare engineering documentation, submittals,
BOMs, and compliance records.

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
to enhance system performance, efficiency, and
reliability.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
or a related discipline (required).

• 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering,
with a strong emphasis on medium-voltage
systems.

• Knowledge of power distribution equipment,
switchgear, motor controls, and electrical
protection systems.

• Familiarity with industries such as industrial
manufacturing, commercial construction, power
generation, and utilities.

• Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar drafting
tools; experience with SKM/ETAP is preferred.

• Strong understanding of electrical codes,
standards, and compliance requirements.

• Ability to read and interpret schematics,
one-line diagrams, and wiring diagrams.
