The Monarch San Antonio – A Legacy of Service and Sophistication
The Monarch San Antonio, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton, is a 200-room, 17-story boutique hotel located in the Hemisfair District of downtown San Antonio. It is set to open in early 2026 and is inspired by the Monarch butterfly that migrates through the region each winter. The hotel will feature a full-service spa, a terrace pool, and five food and beverage concepts, including a rooftop restaurant and bar.

Position Overview
The Executive Steward is responsible for overseeing all stewarding operations within the hotel, ensuring compliance with hygiene and sanitation standards while supporting all food and beverage outlets. This role leads the stewarding team to maintain kitchen, banquet, and back-of-house cleanliness and organization, upholding the hotel's luxury service and operational standards within a full-service environment.
What You'll Do
Stewarding Leadership & Operations
- Lead, supervise, and train the stewarding team to ensure efficient operations across all kitchen and banquet areas.
- Coordinate stewarding support for restaurants, banquets, and high-volume events.
- Foster a positive, professional work environment and motivate team members to perform at high standards.
Sanitation, Safety & Compliance
- Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and organization in kitchens, dishwashing areas, storage areas, and employee dining facilities.
- Implement and enforce health, safety, and hygiene policies in compliance with hotel standards and local regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections of stewarding operations to ensure compliance with SOPs and Five-Star standards.
Equipment, Inventory & Waste Management
- Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, and dishware to ensure proper functionality and cleanliness.
- Oversee inventory control, stock rotation, and ordering of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and stewarding equipment.
- Manage waste disposal, recycling, and sustainability initiatives.
Collaboration & Operational Support
- Partner closely with Culinary, Banquets, and Food & Beverage teams to support seamless service execution.
- Assist with budget management, cost control, and efficient resource utilization within the stewarding department.
What You'll Bring
Required Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Proven experience as a Steward, Chief Steward, or Executive Steward in luxury hotels or high-volume food and beverage operations required.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, sanitation standards, hygiene regulations, and equipment maintenance.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Licenses or Certificates
- Food Handler Certification required.
