This senior-level engineering role is responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and evolution of large-scale voice and VoIP infrastructure across enterprise and carrier-grade environments. The position combines deep hands-on technical expertise with architectural leadership, supporting mission-critical communication systems that enable global customer interactions. You will design, implement, and optimize voice network solutions while ensuring high availability, security, and operational efficiency. The role also involves leading complex infrastructure initiatives, troubleshooting escalations, and collaborating across engineering, product, and operations teams. Working in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment, you will serve as a key technical authority for voice systems and telephony architecture. - Lead the design, implementation, and evolution of enterprise voice and VoIP infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and high availability.
- Serve as a technical subject matter expert for voice/telephony systems, supporting engineering, operations, product, and customer-facing teams.
- Configure, manage, and optimize Session Border Controllers and telephony platforms, including Ribbon Communications and AudioCodes systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex voice network issues, including escalations, outages, and performance incidents across global environments.
- Design and implement disaster recovery, redundancy, and fault-tolerant architectures for mission-critical voice systems.
- Monitor system performance and ensure optimal call routing, quality metrics, and network efficiency across voice infrastructure.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to design and deliver enterprise-wide voice solutions.
- Provide technical mentorship, documentation, and knowledge transfer to engineering teams and junior staff.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in telecommunications, voice engineering, or VoIP infrastructure roles.
- Expert-level knowledge of VoIP, SIP protocols, and carrier-grade voice systems.
- Hands-on experience with Session Border Controllers (SBCs), including Ribbon Communications (Sonus/PSX) or AudioCodes platforms.
- Strong understanding of call routing principles, including Least Cost Routing, number portability, and quality optimization.
- Experience with network troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark, Empirix, or similar packet analysis platforms.
- Solid knowledge of IP networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, DNS, DHCP, and IPSec.
- Experience working with Linux/Unix environments and command-line operations.
- Familiarity with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Remedy.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical issues clearly across teams.
- Ability to work in high-pressure environments with on-call and off-hours support responsibilities.
- Familiarity with WebRTC, TLS, SRTP, and modern secure communication protocols is a plus.
- Experience with contact center technologies, SIPREC, or softphone solutions is a plus.
