This role is focused on leading a high-impact data science team working at the frontier of machine learning, generative AI, and large language models applied to cybersecurity and real-world security operations. You will guide a team that builds experimental and production-ready AI systems designed to enhance human analysts and improve defensive capabilities. The position blends technical leadership, people management, and strategic influence across product, engineering, and security functions. You will operate in a fast-moving R&D environment where innovation is driven by access to unique datasets and real operational challenges. Beyond execution, you will help define the organization’s AI and LLM strategy, ensuring responsible, scalable, and effective use of advanced models. This is a highly collaborative role where leadership, technical depth, and communication converge to shape the future of applied AI in security.
In this role, you will be responsible for leading a data science team while shaping AI strategy and driving execution of high-impact machine learning initiatives.
- Lead and mentor a data science team focused on R&D projects in machine learning, generative AI, and LLM applications
- Manage team delivery, ensuring clear milestones, fast iteration cycles, and effective communication with stakeholders
- Conduct regular coaching, performance reviews, and career development discussions to grow team capability
- Collaborate with product, engineering, UX, and security teams to define strategy and align technical tradeoffs
- Contribute to the organization’s generative AI and LLM roadmap, including foundation models, agentic workflows, and advanced architectures
- Oversee responsible AI practices including fairness, explainability, safety, and bias monitoring in production systems
- Support planning activities such as resource allocation, technical decision-making, and roadmap prioritization
- Contribute up to a limited portion of hands-on technical work including design input, debugging, and feature support
The ideal candidate combines strong leadership experience with deep technical expertise in data science, machine learning, and modern AI systems.
- 6+ years of professional experience in data science, including at least 4 years in a leadership or team management role
- Proven experience managing and developing high-performing data science or ML teams
- Strong hands-on expertise in Python and data science frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Pandas, or Scikit-learn
- Experience designing, deploying, and scaling ML solutions in cloud environments (AWS or GCP)
- Practical experience with generative AI and LLM ecosystems, including tools like LangChain, LlamaIndex, OpenAI, or Anthropic APIs
- Knowledge of RAG pipelines, prompt engineering, and LLM evaluation methodologies
- Familiarity with MLOps tools such as MLflow, SageMaker, or Vertex AI and vector databases like Pinecone, Weaviate, or pgvector
- Experience building or overseeing agentic AI systems and multi-agent workflows
- Strong communication skills with ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Background in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or related fields preferred
- Competitive base salary ranging from $151,000 to $219,000 USD, plus bonus eligibility and equity
