This senior leadership role is responsible for driving strategic growth across African government markets, with a strong focus on transport-sector software solutions. You will define and execute the regional business development strategy, building high-value relationships with government stakeholders while leading complex, long-cycle sales opportunities. The role requires strong commercial leadership, deep understanding of B2G environments, and the ability to navigate procurement-driven sales cycles. You will oversee pipeline creation, revenue performance, and team development while ensuring alignment between market needs and product capabilities. Working closely with executive, product, and delivery teams, you will shape go-to-market execution and support large-scale digital transformation initiatives. This is a highly visible position that combines strategy, leadership, and hands-on deal execution across multiple African markets.
- Define and lead the business development strategy for government and transport-sector clients across African markets, ensuring alignment with revenue targets and long-term growth objectives.
- Own pipeline generation, forecasting, and revenue performance, overseeing the full sales cycle from early engagement to contract closure.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior government officials, ministries, and transport authorities, supporting complex procurement and RFP processes.
- Lead, mentor, and scale a regional business development team, driving performance management, coaching, and capability development.
- Identify new market opportunities, partnerships, and revenue streams while monitoring policy changes, competitor activity, and sector trends.
- Collaborate with product, marketing, and delivery teams to align offerings with government requirements and ensure successful post-sale execution.
- Represent the organization in high-level government meetings, conferences, and strategic forums across targeted regions.
- Ensure disciplined CRM usage, accurate forecasting, and data-driven decision-making across the business development function.
- 8–12+ years of experience in business development or enterprise sales, including leadership roles in B2G or government-facing environments.
- Proven track record of closing complex, long-cycle deals, ideally in software, technology, or transport-related sectors.
- Strong understanding of government procurement processes, regulations, and tendering (RFP/RFQ) frameworks, particularly in African markets.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing sales or business development teams.
- Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills with senior government and institutional decision-makers.
- Strong strategic thinking with the ability to design and execute regional go-to-market plans.
- Proficiency in CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar) and pipeline management tools.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and proposal development skills in English.
- High level of autonomy, commercial judgment, and ability to operate in fast-moving, evolving environments.
- Willingness to travel frequently across African markets for government engagement and business development activities.
- Competitive salary aligned with senior leadership responsibilities
- Remote-first flexibility with extensive regional travel opportunities
- High-impact leadership role shaping large-scale government digital transformation initiatives
- Opportunity to work across diverse African markets and strategic transport projects
- Executive-level exposure and direct collaboration with senior leadership teams
- Strong career growth potential in a rapidly expanding international environment
- Performance-driven culture with ownership of revenue outcomes
- Opportunity to build and scale a regional business development function
