Job Description
As the Truck Shop Lead, you will provide hands-on leadership on the garage floor. Responsibilities will include assisting with training, monitoring, and assuring productivity of shop personnel. Leads in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives.
WHAT YOULL DO
- Safely and efficiently utilize the garage operations equipment.
Trains assigned personnel to safely, accurately, and consistently use garage tools, diagnostic equipment, and vehicle maintenance systems.
Serves as a coach and mentor to assigned personnel.
Communicates and assigns daily work expectations to shop personnel based on current work load and individual employee skill set.
Monitors assigned personnel and work activity through direct observation and use of garage systems. Responsible for taking corrective action when necessary to maintain productivity and quality goals.
Listens to employee and customer concerns, solicits employee and customer suggestions/ input and follows up with employees, customers and managers.
Capable of performing Level I and II repairs
Attend supervisor and lead training related classes as required
YOU MUST HAVE
- Meets the minimum qualifications for a Garage Level II Truck Technician.
- High School Diploma or general equivalency degree required.
- Focused on quality efforts to improve service levels and reduce waste.
- Demonstrated on-the-job behaviors that reflect positive and constructive approaches to business issues.
- Ability to accept changing work demands and seek opportunities to improve garage operations.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
YOU MAY ALSO HAVE
- Previous experience providing support and leadership to other technicians and mechanics
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience
ROLE SPECIFICS
- Occasional overnight travel required; ability to travel without restriction by all modes of transportation, including car, plane, or train.
- Schedule: Wednesday thru Saturday 12:30pm to 11:00pm
- Sufficient vision and hearing necessary to operate powered equipment safely.
- Indoor/Outdoor work with hot and humid or cold temperature extremes.
