Requirements:Summary of Position Responsibilities:
The Senior Electrical Designer is responsible for leading the design, development, and coordination of complex electrical systems in support of large-scale, technically demanding engineering projects. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to operate effectively within highly structured, process-driven environments where precision, compliance, and coordination are critical to project success.This position plays a key role in delivering complete and accurate design documentation, ensuring alignment with project specifications, applicable codes, and client requirements. The Senior Electrical Designer is expected to work both independently and collaboratively, contributing to design strategy, supporting project execution, and maintaining a high standard of quality across all deliverables.The ideal candidate brings experience working in fast-paced, highly regulated environments, with a strong understanding of complex infrastructure systems, stringent documentation standards, and disciplined coordination workflows. These responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead the design and development of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and auxiliary systems for complex engineering projects.
- Prepare and oversee the production of detailed construction documents, including plans, one-line diagrams, panel schedules, and specifications in accordance with project and code requirements.
- Perform electrical load calculations and system sizing in compliance with NEC, IECC, and other applicable standards.
- Design medium voltage distribution systems, emergency/standby power systems, and critical infrastructure supporting continuous operations.
- Interpret project scope, technical requirements, and design criteria to develop comprehensive and coordinated design solutions.
- Work within highly structured project environments that require strict adherence to established processes, documentation standards, and change management protocols.
- Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with mechanical, civil, and structural components.
- Proactively identify, track, and resolve complex design conflicts and coordination issues.
- Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, and internal/external coordination meetings, providing technical input and recommendations.
- Maintain clear, consistent communication with Project Managers, Design Leads, and stakeholders regarding project status, risks, and deliverables.
- Conduct site visits, field verifications, and as-built documentation to ensure design accuracy and alignment with existing conditions.
- Support and adhere to rigorous QA/QC processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance of all deliverables.
- Utilize industry-standard software (AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, SKM, etc.) to produce and manage design documentation efficiently.
- Adapt to evolving project requirements, priorities, and timelines while maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail.
- Mentor and support junior designers, providing technical guidance and promoting consistency in design standards and best practices.
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support the overall operations of the organization.
Minimum Qualifications :
- 8+ years of electrical design experience in a consulting engineering or similarly complex technical environment.
- Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale, infrastructure-heavy, or highly regulated projects requiring strict adherence to design standards and documentation protocols.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit; experience with Bluebeam and SKM strongly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC, NFPA standards, and applicable building codes.
- Proven ability to manage and coordinate design deliverables across multiple disciplines.
- Experience working within structured project environments with formal processes, approvals, and change management workflows.
- Strong understanding of power distribution systems, one-line diagrams, and lighting/control systems.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail with a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
- Field experience, including site walks, validation, and as-built documentation.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
