About This Position

The North Carolina League of Municipalities (NCLM) is seeking an ARP Intern. This position is part of the Technical Assistance for Cities team. We are seeking a motivated, adaptable individual with strong administrative and technical skills to support day-to-day operations and special projects. This role is ideal for a student or early-career professional interested in public service, nonprofit management, and community-focused initiatives. The intern will assist with core administrative functions, manage information workflows, contribute to event planning, and support two key organizational projects. A proactive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn are essential.

Additional duties include:

  • Administrative Support
    • Monitor and manage shared organizational inboxes.
    • Organize digital and physical files; maintain updated records in various tracking systems.
    • Prepare materials for meetings, events, and internal use (printing, assembling packets, proofreading, etc.).
    • Transfer data and information into spreadsheets and tracking tools with accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Assist with scheduling, document preparation, and general office coordination.
  • Technical & Data Support
    • Create, update, and maintain Excel spreadsheets, using basic formulas and data entry.
    • Use Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint for collaboration and documentation.
    • Provide light technical support related to document management and file organization.
  • Project Support
    • Assist with planning and preparing for two major internal projects, including coordinating logistics, developing materials, and supporting outreach efforts.
    • Conduct research to support project goals, including collecting data, summarizing findings, and preparing brief reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong administrative abilities, including organization, attention to detail, and reliability.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and follow through on assignments.
  • A positive, can-do attitude with the willingness to pitch in wherever needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in public administration, nonprofit management, public policy, or community engagement.
  • Basic research experience (academic or professional)
