Summary
kidSTREAM Children’s Museum is seeking a dynamic, organized, and guest-focused Guest Service Manager to lead front-of-house operations and ensure an exceptional guest experience. This role is critical to delivering a safe, welcoming, and joyful environment for children, families, members, and community partners.
The Guest Services Manager oversees daily admissions operations, guest flow, safety procedures, managing the museum store and the supervision and training of Guest Services staff. Working closely with the Director of Operations and cross-departmental teams, this position plays a key role in museum readiness, operational excellence, and opening success.
The ideal candidate is a calm, confident leader with experience in guest services, hospitality, or museum operations who thrives in a fast-paced, family-centered environment.
Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Front-of-House operations (35%)
- Oversee daily guest-facing operations, including admissions, ticketing, visitor flow, membership check in and front desk coverage
- Ensure consistent, high-quality guest service standards across all touchpoints
- Respond to and resolve guest concerns in a professional and timely manner
- Support group visits, school field trips, and special events in coordination with Education and Operations teams
- Coordination of front of house collateral in conjunction with Marketing Team
Staff Leadership & Training (25%)
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise Guest Services staff and leads
- Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) on a rotating basis
- Lead onboarding and ongoing training related to:
- Guest service standards
- Child-centered engagement
- Safety and emergency procedures (Code Adam, injuries, evacuations)
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and accountable team culture
Safety, Risk Management & Incident Response (20%)
- Enforce all guest safety, supervision, and conduct policies
- Lead response to incidents including:
- Lost child / Code Adam
- Coordinate effort with guest injuries or medical situations
- Behavioral or facility-related issues
- Ensure incident reports are completed accurately and promptly.
- Coordinate with Facilities and Operations staff on safety, cleanliness, and exhibit readiness
Admissions & Revenue Operations (Non-Membership) (10%)
- Oversee admissions and daily ticketing operations and membership check in
- Ensure compliance with cash handling, POS procedures, and internal controls
- Monitor daily admissions activity and collaborate with Operations and Finance on reporting.
- Note: Membership sales, renewals, and strategy are managed by a separate Membership Coordinator.
Policies, Procedures & Reporting (10%)
- Ensure compliance with kidSTREAM policies, including:
- Admissions & ticketing
- Guest conduct and safety
- Photography & media release
- Code Adam / Missing Child
- Assist in maintaining and updating front-of-house procedures and training materials
- Track and report attendance trends, guest feedback, and staffing performance
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in guest services, hospitality, museum, or family-focused operations
- Demonstrated experience supervising front-line staff
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with children and families preferred
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and variable schedules
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check required
- Ability to lift, move, and stock boxes and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds in a retail and guest-facing environment
Preferred Skills
- Experience in museums, attractions, hospitality, or cultural institutions
- Familiarity with safety protocols in child-centered environments
- Comfort handling guest issues calmly and professionally
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Spanish-language skills are a plus
