About This Position

Category Specialist

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Category Specialist in the United States.

This role sits at the center of a healthcare supply chain organization, supporting category management teams that drive value, efficiency, and cost optimization across a large and complex procurement environment. You will help ensure accurate contracting, pricing alignment, and data integrity across multiple supplier and distributor networks. Acting as a key operational partner, you will assist in maintaining governance standards, improving procurement processes, and supporting supply assurance initiatives. The position involves close collaboration with buyers, category leaders, and operations teams to resolve discrepancies and strengthen sourcing performance. You will also contribute to reporting, contract lifecycle management, and rebate recovery efforts that directly impact organizational savings. This is a highly collaborative role where attention to detail, analytical thinking, and process discipline support broader strategic sourcing goals.

Accountabilities:
  • Support category management teams by assisting with contract administration, pricing governance, distributor onboarding, and GPO alignment across multiple procurement portfolios.
  • Monitor and resolve pricing and product discrepancies while helping ensure supply continuity and accurate supplier data across systems and contracts.
  • Contribute to contract lifecycle activities, including tracking expirations, identifying optimization opportunities, and supporting sourcing calendar updates.
  • Assist in identifying and documenting missed savings opportunities and rebate recovery efforts while helping strengthen audit and compliance processes.
  • Organize and support moderately complex projects from initiation through completion, ensuring timelines, documentation, and stakeholder coordination are maintained.
  • Support process improvement initiatives by standardizing procedures, assisting with training materials, and improving procurement workflows and data governance.
Requirements:

This role requires experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain operations, ideally within a healthcare or similarly regulated environment. Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across cross-functional teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required, along with strong written and verbal communication abilities. Experience working with procurement systems or eProcurement platforms such as contract lifecycle management or supplier management tools is highly valued. A results-driven mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaboration are essential. An associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred, though equivalent relevant experience is also considered.

Benefits:
  • Competitive hourly compensation with a range of approximately $27.65 to $43.55 depending on experience
  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage and wellness-focused employee benefits
  • Access to programs supporting professional development and career growth
  • Participation in retirement and financial wellbeing plans (where applicable)
  • Opportunities for education support and tuition assistance programs
  • Stable full-time schedule with structured weekday hours.
