This leadership role is responsible for driving enterprise-wide quality, patient safety, and regulatory compliance across a multi-site behavioral healthcare organization. The Director will play a pivotal role in shaping a culture of continuous improvement, clinical excellence, and risk reduction across diverse care settings. This position oversees quality assurance, patient safety initiatives, and performance improvement programs aligned with federal, state, and accreditation standards. Operating in a highly regulated and mission-driven healthcare environment, the role requires strong collaboration with clinical, operational, and executive leadership teams. The Director will lead data-driven quality strategies, ensuring measurable improvements in patient outcomes and organizational performance. This is a high-impact role with significant influence on safety culture and care delivery standards across multiple facilities.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead and coordinate quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management initiatives across multiple behavioral health facilities.
  • Conduct regular site visits, audits, and performance evaluations to assess quality, compliance, and safety performance.
  • Oversee incident reporting systems, adverse event investigations, and root cause analyses to identify systemic improvements.
  • Collect, analyze, and report quality metrics, KPIs, dashboards, and performance outcomes to guide leadership decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory bodies including Joint Commission, CARF, SAMHSA, and state agencies.
  • Facilitate QAPI programs, quality committees, and cross-site collaboration to standardize best practices.
  • Support the development and implementation of corrective action plans and ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
  • Lead patient safety initiatives focused on reducing harm, improving outcomes, and strengthening a just culture.
  • Mentor and supervise site-level quality and risk staff, providing coaching and operational guidance.
  • Partner with leadership teams to integrate evidence-based practices and drive continuous improvement strategies.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Behavioral Health, Public Health, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred (MPH, MSN, MHA, MSW, or equivalent).
  • 4+ years of experience in healthcare quality, patient safety, or risk management.
  • Experience in behavioral health settings and multi-site healthcare operations strongly required.
  • Strong knowledge of QAPI frameworks, regulatory compliance, and accreditation standards.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex data sets and use quality tools such as Excel, Power BI, or healthcare analytics platforms.
  • Experience leading root cause analyses, process improvement initiatives, and performance evaluations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills across clinical and operational teams.
  • Ability to travel up to 90%, including occasional evening and weekend work.
  • Certification such as CPHQ or CPPS preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, regulated, multi-site environment.
