Accountabilities:

The Senior Power Systems Engineer is responsible for performing high-level power system studies, providing technical leadership, and supporting strategic initiatives:

  • Conduct bulk power system analyses including dynamic stability, load flow, steady state, short circuit, and transient stability studies using software such as PSS/E, PSCAD, Aspen, and TARA.
  • Lead and mentor engineering teams, providing coaching and guidance on technical methodologies and project execution.
  • Interact with clients to gather requirements, address concerns, and deliver high-quality, actionable results.
  • Perform advanced studies, including Sub-synchronous Resonance analysis, and develop mitigation plans for identified constraints.
  • Review and enhance transmission planning methodologies, tools, and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support business development initiatives by providing technical expertise and contributing to proposals.
  • Ensure all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Requirements:

Candidates should possess strong technical expertise, analytical skills, and the ability to lead complex projects:

  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Power Systems Engineer.
  • Experience performing power system impact studies, including dynamic stability, load flow, steady state, and short circuit analyses.
  • Proficiency with power system simulation and analysis software such as PSS/E, PSCAD, Aspen, and TARA.
  • Experience with programming or automation in Python.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively, build relationships, and mentor team members.
  • Commitment to high-quality deliverables, attention to detail, and ownership of work.
  • Preferred: experience with renewable energy integration, modern grid technologies, or energy intelligence software solutions.
