Location: Centennial, CO 80112, USA
Quantum Corporation is a global leader in data storage, management, and infrastructure solutions, trusted by media, entertainment, healthcare, government, and enterprise customers for over four decades. Quantum's portfolio spans high-performance storage software (StorNext), scale-out object storage (ActiveScale), intelligent backup and deduplication (DXi), and enterprise tape libraries (Scalar).
We are executing a bold transformation: unifying our product platform, rebuilding core technology for the next generation of AI-driven workloads and reengaging our channel and partner ecosystem after significant investment in engineering and product leadership. This is an exciting moment to join Quantum — and a rare opportunity to shape the IT foundation that will support that growth.
The Senior Director of IT Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategy, architecture, security, and day-to-day operations of Quantum's global IT environment. Reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer, this leader will serve as a strategic partner to the CPO and product organization — ensuring that Quantum's internal technology infrastructure supports rapid product development, secure customer engagement, and operational scalability.
This role sits at the intersection of IT, product, and engineering. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to balance near-term operational reliability with forward-looking platform transformation — directly aligned with Quantum's platform unification strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
IT Strategy & Leadership
- Define and execute a multi-year IT roadmap aligned to Quantum's product and business strategy.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the CPO and executive leadership team on technology investment, risk, and opportunity.
- Translate business objectives — including platform unification, StorNext NG development, and AI infrastructure expansion — into concrete IT initiatives.
- Build and lead a high-performing, globally distributed IT organization.
Infrastructure & Platform Operations
- Oversee all enterprise IT infrastructure including data center operations, cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP), networks, endpoints, and collaboration tools.
- Drive reliability, performance, and scalability of internal systems to support an engineering organization of 200+ and growing.
- Lead the evaluation and adoption of infrastructure technologies that align with Quantum's own product philosophy — unified platforms, reduced fragmentation, modern APIs.
- Manage vendor relationships, SLAs, and IT procurement with a focus on cost discipline and technical leverage.
Security & Compliance
- Own Quantum's information security posture, including cybersecurity strategy, incident response, and vulnerability management.
- Ensure compliance with relevant frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, CMMC as applicable) in support of enterprise and government customer requirements.
- Partner with Legal, Finance, and Product teams to manage data governance and privacy obligations.
Product & Engineering Enablement
- Partner with the engineering organization to provide the tools, environments, and CI/CD infrastructure that accelerate product development.
- Own developer tooling, lab environments, test infrastructure, and internal developer platforms.
- Ensure IT capabilities support Quantum's strategic pivot to AI workloads — including GPU infrastructure access, data pipeline tooling, and secure multi-tenant environments.
Business Systems & Data
- Own and evolve Quantum's core business systems including ERP (Microsoft D365), CRM (Salesforce), CPQ, and supporting SaaS ecosystem.
- Champion data quality, integration, and business intelligence initiatives that give leadership timely visibility into pipeline, support, and product metrics.
- Support M&A and partnership activity (e.g., CatDV divestiture, Axel AI relationship) with robust IT due diligence and integration capabilities.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 12+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Demonstrated success leading IT in a product-driven, SaaS or infrastructure technology company.
- Deep expertise in enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms, and cybersecurity.
- Experience partnering directly with product and engineering organizations; ability to speak both business and technical fluently.
- Proven track record of driving IT transformation — platform consolidation, vendor rationalization, or major systems migrations — at scale.
- Strong executive presence; comfortable presenting to the board, customers, and auditors.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
- Willing and able to work from our office in Centennial, CO on a hybrid or full-time schedule (at least Tuesday - Thursday 10am-4pm local).
Preferred
- Experience in data storage, media technology, or adjacent infrastructure verticals.
- Familiarity with HPC, AI/ML infrastructure, or GPU-accelerated computing environments.
- Experience with CMMC or federal/defense-adjacent compliance environments.
- Prior experience in a company undergoing significant platform transformation or post-acquisition integration.
What Success Looks Like:
In the first 90 days
- Complete a comprehensive audit of Quantum's IT landscape — infrastructure, systems, security posture, and team capabilities.
- Establish working relationships with CPO, CTO, CFO, and engineering leadership; develop a shared IT roadmap aligned to product priorities.
- Identify and communicate the top 3–5 strategic IT risks and corresponding mitigation plans.
By end of year one
- Deliver a rationalized and modernized IT infrastructure plan that eliminates redundancy and improves uptime.
- Achieve measurable improvements in developer experience and engineering velocity through better internal tooling and lab environments.
- Establish a security and compliance posture that actively supports enterprise and government sales cycles.
- Build and develop a cohesive, high-trust IT team with clear ownership and career pathways.
