The Lead Mechanic is responsible for helping to maintain all equipment used by the department. As a Lead Mechanic, you must lead by example by taking a proactive position on all responsibilities concerning the maintenance of golf course equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes but is not limited to the following:
· Helps train staff members on the safe and proper operation of the equipment.
· Assists the Equipment Manager in encouraging team members to be diligent with equipment care and operation.
· Assists the Equipment Manager in reviewing operational challenges and recommending solutions.
· Identifies and corrects performance problems under the Equipment Manager’s supervision, complete repairs/adjustments, and help ensure all equipment is being properly cleaned.
· Assists with maintaining records of repairs, equipment and parts inventory, preventative maintenance, and fuel/lubricate usage.
· Maintains a clean, safe and orderly work environment.
· Assists Equipment Manager to ensure departmental compliance with OSHA.
· Assists with the implementation of a thorough Preventative Maintenance program for all equipment.
· Assists the Equipment Manager to anticipate parts need and maintain inventory to maximize equipment operations, reducing down time.
· Attends educational seminars to stay current with the leading technology and troubleshooting skills needed.
· Communicates with the Equipment Manager, the Lead Superintendent, or Assistant Superintendents on daily/weekly work assignments to ensure all needed equipment is ready prior to need.
· Ability to interact positively with Members and teammates.
Requirements:QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Three to five years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience in specialized golf course maintenance.
• Must be self-motivated.
• Able to read technical manuals and regulatory documents.
• Requires a valid Florida driver’s license.
Language: Ability to read, write, and comprehend complex correspondence, memos, and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees.
Mathematics: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning: Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

• Exhibits professionalism and expresses interest of improvement through enhanced developmental skills, exhibit leadership, and expressed direction through own self-actions.
• Requires the individual to maintain flexible availability, working weekends, and holidays. May be required to return to job site at odd hours under emergency situations.

• Welding and/or fabrication skills required.
• Maintain a pleasant and outgoing personality and must not possess any extreme personal appearance characteristics as judged by a conservative membership base.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel in order to use a telephone keypad and computer keyboard and mouse. The employee must be able to remain in a stationary position at a maximum of 50% of the time. Must frequently be able to move equipment weighing up to 60lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
Pay & Benefits:
This is a year-round, full-time, hourly, non-exempt position, eligible for overtime. Hourly pay is competitive and varies depending on the candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities.
