Maintenance Technician – Nicholson Gateway | LSU Student Housing
About the Role
At Nicholson Gateway, we’re committed to providing a safe, clean, and fully functional living environment for LSU students. We are seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician to support daily operations and help ensure our community runs smoothly.
This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced student housing environment where responsiveness, attention to detail, and quality work directly impact the resident experience. If you take pride in your craft and enjoy solving problems, we’d love to meet you.
What We’re Looking For
  • Prior maintenance experience in student housing, multifamily, or similar environment required
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliance repair
  • HVAC certification or experience preferred
  • Ability to troubleshoot and complete repairs independently
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to safety practices
  • Comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and professional interaction with residents and team members
  • Willingness to participate in a rotating on-call schedule for after-hours emergencies
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and remain active throughout the shift
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Complete maintenance service requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliance issues
  • Perform preventative maintenance to ensure systems operate efficiently
  • Assist with unit turns and make-ready process during move-in and move-out periods
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance shops and storage areas
  • Support emergency maintenance needs and on-call responsibilities
  • Work closely with the onsite team to maintain a safe, student-ready community
Pay & Perks
  • Compensation: $19.00 – $23.00 per hour, based on experience
  • Pay Schedule: Paid semi-monthly
  • Performance Incentives: Bonus opportunities available
