About This Position
The Systems Administrator IV serves as a senior technical lead for the administration, security, and sustainment of enterprise and mission systems supporting NSWC Crane operations. This role oversees the design and maintenance of resilient computing environments across workstations, servers, network services, and application infrastructure, ensuring availability, security compliance, and operational continuity. The administrator provides expert troubleshooting, lifecycle planning, and cross-team coordination to support both day-to-day operations and long-term modernization efforts. This position is contingent upon award. Award is expected around the end of the year (2026).
- Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems (per eCRAFT Systems Administrator IV labor category).
- 10+ years of professional experience in systems administration.
- Ability to administer and sustain enterprise/server environments, including operating systems, network services, user accounts, access controls, and baseline configurations.
- Demonstrated experience diagnosing and resolving complex infrastructure issues while maintaining system performance and uptime.
- Proficiency creating and maintaining technical documentation, procedures, and operational runbooks suitable for government review.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with cybersecurity, network engineering, software, and program stakeholders.
- Compliance with applicable Cyber Workforce directives/certification requirements as defined by contract.
- Active DoD Secret clearance (or clearable to that level) required due to support for classified programs and facilities.
- Extensive experience administering complex DoD or Navy IT environments, including mixed on-prem and mission network architectures.
- Demonstrated expertise in system hardening, patch/configuration management, backup and recovery, and incident response support.
- Strong background with directory services, virtualization, scripting/automation, and monitoring platforms used to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Experience integrating cybersecurity requirements into operational workflows, including vulnerability remediation and audit readiness.
- Proven ability to mentor junior administrators and lead technical execution across multiple concurrent priorities.
