Lower Elementary Teacher at Archdiocese of Detroit – Orchard Lake Village, Michigan

Position Summary:

Our Lady of Refuge Catholic School is seeking to fill the position with a candidate that is a team player possessing flexibility and an unwavering commitment to students’ academic and spiritual development. The teacher fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by guiding, inspiring, and educating students in a loving, Christ-centered environment. The teacher is immediately responsible to the Principal for the carrying out of policies of the school and the Archdiocese of Detroit as they relate to the function of the school, the classroom, and the immediate contact with students and parents.

All teachers in the Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Detroit shall be certified and/or approved for teaching by the Department of Education for the State of Michigan.

All teachers are required to hold the appropriate endorsement for the subject(s) they are assigned to teach.
All teachers who are catechists (teachers of religion) must be certified by the Department of Evangelization, Catechesis and Schools.

Professional Requirements (include but not limited to):

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university minimum

Michigan Teacher’s Certification

An understanding of the Catholic Faith and the ability to witness to it personally and professionally

Catechist certification (or willingness to attain certification)

Successful teaching experience preferred

All candidates must be able to pass background checks and understand and abide by the Archdiocese of Detroit contract for employment and the specifications it contains regarding the expectations of a Catholic school employee.
