Description:

Damian Family Care Centers (DFCC) is seeking a strategic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead all financial operations of the organization. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the CFO is responsible for overseeing financial planning, budgeting, accounting, reporting, and compliance to support the organization’s mission of delivering high-quality, community-based healthcare services. The CFO will play a critical role in shaping financial strategy, ensuring fiscal sustainability, and driving operational excellence across all sites.

Schedule: Monday – Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Status: Full-Time | Exempt

The chief financial officer (CFO) serves as a key member of the executive leadership team and is responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of all financial functions of Damian Family Care Centers, inc. (DFCC), a federally qualified health center (FQHC).The CFO provides leadership in financial management, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, revenue cycle oversight, and regulatory compliance while supporting the long-term financial sustainability of the organization.This role develops and implements financial strategies, provides data-driven insights to executive leadership and the board of directors, and ensures that DFCC maintains strong internal controls, financial integrity, and compliance with federal, state, and nonprofit regulatory requirements.
Essential Functions:Executive Leadership• Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, contributing to strategic planning and organizational decision-making.• Provide financial guidance to the President/CEO and senior leadership regarding operational strategy and long-term growth.• Present financial performance, forecasts, and strategic recommendations to the Board of Directors and Finance Committee.Financial Strategy, Planning, and Analysis• Lead the development and implementation of the organization's financial strategy in alignment with DFCC’s strategic plan.• Oversee the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and long-term financial plans.• Develop financial models and analytical tools to support operational decision-making and organizational growth.• Analyze financial performance and recommend corrective or strategic actions as needed.Financial Operations and Oversight• Oversee all financial functions including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and cash management.• Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.• Maintain strong internal controls and financial policies to safeguard organizational assets.• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations and nonprofit reporting requirements.Revenue Cycle and FQHC Financial Management• Provide executive oversight of revenue cycle management including billing, collections, and Accounts Receivable.• Ensure processes are in place to maximize third-party reimbursement, including Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, capitation payments, and sliding fee scale programs.• Oversee financial aspects of federal, state, and local grant funding including reporting and compliance.• Monitor payer reimbursement structures and respond to proposed rate adjustments or contract changes.Board and External Financial Relations• Partner with the Board Finance Committee to develop and monitor short-, medium-, and long-term financial strategies.• Serve as the primary financial liaison with banks, auditors, financial institutions, and regulatory agencies.• Oversee the preparation and coordination of all external audits and financial reviews.Team Leadership and Development• Provide leadership and oversight to finance, accounting, and related administrative teams.• Mentor, develop, and evaluate finance staff to support strong departmental performance and succession planning.• Foster a collaborative and high-performing finance team.
Non-Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe following responsibilities may be delegated or shared with other administrative leaders as appropriate:• Oversight coordination of information technology and telecommunications infrastructure.• Management of the organization's insurance programs.• Oversight of real estate matters including leases and subleases in coordination with legal counsel.• Review and approval of vendor contracts or administrative financial agreements.• Participation in operational committees or cross-functional initiatives as needed.• Other duties as assigned to support the financial and operational objectives of the organization.
Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.

• MBA, MPA, or Master’s degree in Finance or related field preferred.

• CPA strongly preferred.

• Minimum 5–8 years of progressive senior financial leadership experience, preferably within nonprofit healthcare or Federally Qualified Health Centers.

• Demonstrated expertise in nonprofit accounting, including fund accounting, grant compliance, and federal reporting requirements.

• Experience managing revenue cycle operations and third-party payer reimbursement systems.

• Experience working with executive leadership and boards of directors.

• Strong knowledge of nonprofit healthcare finance and regulatory requirements.

• Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and financial modeling skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Proven leadership and team management abilities.

• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Work is performed primarily in a professional healthcare office setting across multiple DFHC sites.

• Frequent interaction with clinical providers, administrative staff, leadership, and IT personnel.

• Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.

• Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.

• Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing and data entry.

• Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and via virtual platforms.

• Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, bend, and lift up to 15 pounds.

• Visual acuity required for reviewing data and documentation on computer screens.

• Occasional travel may be required.

• May require attendance at off-site training, conferences, or webinars.
