The Landscape Services department has an opportunity for interested individuals to apply for the position of Labourer I - Turf. Reporting to the Landscape Services Supervisor, this position offers 76.5 hours bi-weekly starting approximately April 20, 2026, through to October 16, 2026.
The primary role of this position is to maintain the grass in the parks and village of Whistler. Qualified candidates will have a grade 12 education supplemented by at least 6 months of experience in a similar role with a keen interest in turf. Qualified candidates demonstrate some knowledge of grasses, overseeding, fertilizing and liming; previous experience with the safe use and maintenance of a variety of landscaping equipment and tools; a good safety awareness; and the abilities to effectively problem solve, work independently, manage competing demands, and prioritize work tasks effectively. Candidates must be physically able to perform moderate to heavy work in all weather conditions. A valid first aid certification and previous experience with traffic control is considered an asset.
The successful candidate is customer service focused with excellent active listening and verbal communication skills and demonstrates commitment to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace within their team and will create and maintain effective working relationships with others while contributing to a positive team environment. The starting wage for this position is $32.91 an hour.
As a requirement of the position, the successful applicant must hold a valid class 5 BC driver’s license and must provide a satisfactory driver’s abstract prior to beginning employment.
