Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional with a strong background in U.S. government compliance requirements for commercial entities, especially those related to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the U.S. Department of State’s International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). This role is ideal for a proactive problem solver with industry experience, strong client-facing skills, and a desire to advance within the organization.
As a Senior Managing Consultant, responsibilities may include leading or supporting monitorships, audits, and advisory engagements, as well as participating in business development initiatives. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with sound judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage complex projects and client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage all aspects of small to mid-sized client engagements, as well as discrete parts of larger projects.
- Lead the assembly, analysis, and presentation of project data in reports prepared for clients and U.S. government agencies.
- Support project planning through the development and review of timelines, schedules, and cost analyses.
- Contribute to the preparation of expert reports, including drafting, editing, and proofreading written work products.
- Develop report exhibits, graphics, and other visual materials to support analytical findings as needed.
- Assist in preparing presentations for client briefings, industry seminars, and business development or marketing events.
- Manage client relationships by clearly communicating analyses, findings, and deliverables, and ensuring high-quality work.
- Demonstrate creativity and efficiency in using relevant software tools and analytical methods to develop practical solutions.
- Prioritize assignments and manage multiple responsibilities to meet project goals, deadlines, and quality standards.
- Participate actively in practice group meetings, staff training, recruiting efforts, and broader business development initiatives.
- Collaborate effectively within a team environment while meeting client expectations and engagement deliverables.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in national security, political science, international political economy, or a related field required; MBA or other relevant master’s degree from a reputable institution preferred.
- Minimum of ten (10+) years of relevant experience within U.S. government agencies and/or a professional services or consulting environment.
- Prior experience with U.S. government compliance programs and enforcement activities.
- Strong interest in national security, international political economy, and the evolution of U.S. government compliance regimes and their implications for commercial clients.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong analytical, managerial, and leadership abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to develop strategic visions, implement initiatives, and deliver results.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment.
