This role is focused on safeguarding the quality, safety, and regulatory compliance of assisted living and adult care facilities through on-site inspections and detailed evaluations. You will work in a field-based capacity, conducting surveys to assess adherence to state rules and licensure requirements while ensuring residents receive appropriate and safe care. The position blends clinical nursing expertise with regulatory oversight, requiring strong analytical judgment and precise documentation of findings. You will also act as a technical advisor to facilities and local agencies, supporting compliance improvement and best practices. With significant travel across an assigned region, this role offers a dynamic environment where autonomy, integrity, and attention to detail are essential. Your work will directly contribute to protecting vulnerable populations and strengthening care standards across communities.

Accountabilities:
  • Conduct on-site inspections of assisted living and adult care facilities to evaluate compliance with state licensure rules, statutes, and care standards.
  • Analyze survey findings, determine compliance status, and document results in clear, accurate, and legally defensible reports.
  • Provide technical assistance and regulatory guidance to facilities, providers, and county-level social services staff.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary reviews and collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent regulatory enforcement and interpretation.
  • Communicate findings effectively through written reports and verbal interactions with facility leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support continuous improvement in care quality by identifying compliance gaps and recommending corrective actions.
  • Travel extensively within the assigned region, including occasional overnight stays, to complete field inspections.
Requirements
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in North Carolina with at least 1 year of clinical or relevant healthcare experience.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing practice, including assessment, care planning, and clinical judgment.
  • Experience applying regulations, standards, or statutes in a healthcare or compliance environment.
  • Ability to conduct surveys, audits, or inspections in healthcare or regulated settings is highly valued.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, structured technical documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and ability to interpret complex regulatory frameworks.
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability and willingness to travel extensively across assigned regions.
  • Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining accountability and professional judgment.
