About This Position

Clinical Lead -NHC

Salary Range: $51.70 - $71.26

Pay rates are determined based on experience and internal equity.

Position Summary:

  • Under the direction of the Physician or Nurse Manager, responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients in accordance with the standards defined by the Board of Vocational Nursing & Psychiatric Technicians, the American Nurses Association (ANA) and Lompoc Valley Medical Center.

Position Duties/Responsibility:

  • Assess patient’s general condition and takes vital signs.
  • Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination. Screens patients for appropriation information.
  • Documents all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.
  • Administers prescribed medications.
  • Processes and coordinates prescription refill requests in accordance with provider orders, clinical protocols, and established policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care.
  • Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials. Ensures cleanliness.
  • May prepare equipment and aid physician during treatment, examination and testing of patients.
  • May be asked to act as a department resource and coordinate nursing care for patients.
  • Promotes wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.
  • Maintains strict patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
  • Must thoroughly understand and follow established policy and procedure with regard to basic patient care.
  • Participates in department quality improvement, clinic safety, infection control and hazardous materials programs and activities.
  • May start and maintain intravenous fluid therapy or perform venous blood withdrawal. (Note: for IV therapy administration and blood withdrawal must have completed the thirty (30) hour Basic IV program approved by the State of California).
  • Exercises discretion and maintain high level of confidentiality.
  • Assists Clinic Director with employee management including timecards, evaluations, and Medical Assistant competencies.
  • Assists Clinic Director with oversight and management of NHC services lines.
  • Oversight of supply chain management.
  • Performs and/or assists Clinic Director with investigating and/or responding to patient concerns/complaints.
  • Performs related work as assigned by Manager/Director.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to communicate well with patients, families, co-workers, physicians, other members of the healthcare team, etc.

  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.

Position Qualifications:

  • Education: Must have a valid California Registered Nursing License with IV Therapy certification.
  • Experience: A minimum of two (2) years nursing experience in an outpatient clinic setting is required.
  • Cert/License: A valid California registered nursing license. Current BLS certification by American Heart Association at time of hire. AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support and AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support a plus. For IV therapy administration and blood withdrawal must have completed the thirty (30) hour Basic IV program approved by the State of California.
