Remote Compliance Officer

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Remote Compliance Officer. In this high-impact role, you will spearhead and bolster the Canadian AML/ATF program, playing a pivotal part in advancing our financial crime compliance framework. You will work directly with senior management and the board, utilizing your regulatory expertise and leadership skills to navigate the complexities of compliance within a dynamic payments landscape. Your objective assessments and strategic collaborations will ensure adherence to regulatory standards while driving sustainable growth for the organization.Accountabilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Canadian AML and counter-terrorist financing compliance program.
  • Conduct and oversee periodic independent AML/ATF risk assessments.
  • Enhance criteria and structure for risk-ranking clients.
  • Maintain and update AML/ATF policies, procedures, and governance documentation.
  • Ensure appropriate AML/ATF training for all relevant personnel.
  • Report compliance status and findings to senior management and the board.
  • Oversee AML Compliance Effectiveness Reviews and remediation efforts.
  • Manage registration and licensing with FINTRAC and other authorities.
  • Lead regulatory engagement and correspondence with relevant regulators.
  • Oversee timely filing of all required regulatory reports.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and ensure program updates.
  • Support exam preparation, audits, and supervisory reviews.
  • Lead ongoing compliance program enhancements.
  • Oversee Canadian sanctions compliance and related obligations.
  • Review new products and services for compliance considerations.
  • Lead third-party compliance due diligence processes.
Requirements
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in French and/or Spanish is a plus.
  • Bachelors degree (BA or BS) in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • CAMS certification or equivalent AML/financial crime qualification.
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in AML/Compliance roles.
  • Expertise in administering PCMLTFA-compliant AML/ATF regimes.
  • Experience leading Canadian compliance teams and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong experience with regulatory examinations and audits.
  • Knowledge of Canadian MSB registration/licensing regimes.
  • Hands-on experience with regulatory reporting obligations.
  • Experience enhancing programs to meet RPAA requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of sanctions compliance expectations in Canada.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Diplomatic and collaborative approach with cultural awareness.
