Our Team, News UK is one of the United Kingdom's largest news publishers, with signifi cant print and digital operations across The Sun, The Times, The Sunday Times, Dow Jones and Wireless group.
Requirements:
• 5+ years of experience in Application Support, with flexibility to participate in on-call support
• Robust and effective communication skills are essential to work with a global team of members.
• Experience supporting applications hosted on AWS cloud environments
• Hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, Auto Scaling Groups (ASG), CloudFront, and CloudWatch
• Hands-on experience with DNS management and configuration
• Mandatory experience with GitHub and other SCM tools
• Experience using monitoring and observability tools such as New Relic and Splunk
• Exposure to CI/CD workflows, with CircleCI preferred
• Strong skills in debugging web and mobile applications
• Exposure to databases such as AWS RDS and Redis Cache
• Working knowledge of AWS Athena for querying application and access logs
• Knowledge of REST APIs and GraphQL
• Basic understanding of DevOps workflows, including Terraform and Kubernetes Helm charts
• Experience with WordPress, Elasticsearch, and website management tools
• Strong troubleshooting skills across Linux, web platforms, Android, and iOS
• Experience using ticketing tools such as Jira and ServiceNow
• Act as an escalation point for customers and support engineers, collaborating closely with engineering teams
• Willingness to learn new technologies and contribute to documentation and knowledge base improvements
Desired Skills: • Proven experience providing enterprise-wide application support • Hands-on experience with AWS-based technologies • Good understanding of container and search technologies such as Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, and Elasticsearch
