ABOUT THE POSITION

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and developing a multi-disciplinary engineering team in support of safe, stable, and capable manufacturing operations. This role serves as an engineering leader accountable for systems, results, and organizational capability, while also acting as a strong operational partner within the plant. The Engineering Manager drives continuous improvement through Lean principles, data-driven decision making, and structured problem-solving. The role owns engineering project execution, capital procurement and ensures engineering standards and processes are robust and sustained.This position requires strong attention to detail and the ability to perform effectively in a fast- paced manufacturing environment.

JOB FUNCTION/PURPOSE:

The Extrusion Operator ensures the safe and efficient operation of extrusion lines to produce high-quality plastic sheet products. This role is focused on meeting production schedules, maintaining quality standards, troubleshooting process issues, and supporting continuous improvement while upholding all safety and compliance requirements.

ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership and People Management
  • Lead, develop, and coach a multi-disciplinary engineering team across multiple technical
  • Own engineering headcount planning, performance management, succession planning, and talent development.
  • Establish clear priorities, accountability, and expectations aligned with plant
  • Build engineering capability through standard work, training, mentoring, and continuous improvement of skills.
APQP / New Product Development (NPD):
  • Own engineering execution of APQP and NPD
  • Ensure robust process design, risk mitigation, and launch
  • Capture and standardize lessons learned to improve future
Continuous Improvement & Lean Leadership:
  • Lead Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
  • Drive structured root cause analysis and ensure corrective actions are
  • Promote a culture of standardization, waste elimination, and data-driven
  • Communicate and lead significant change efforts by delegating tasks, setting expectations, and holding employees accountable for results.
Capital Projects:
  • Own capital project planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and cross- functional coordination.
  • Develop business cases, cost estimates, and ROI analyses to support capital investment
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and meet performance
Data Collection, Analysis & MES Ownership:
  • Own engineering data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • Ensure MES and production data systems provide actionable, trusted metrics used routinely by operations and leadership.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret production and quality data to identify trends and support process improvements.
  • Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for process, tooling, or equipment issues impacting production performance or product quality.
Manufacturing and Engineering Systems:
  • Lead new equipment installations, line modifications, and improvement projects, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards while optimizing cellular flow, layout, and material movement.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Develop and lead Design of Experiment (DOEs) to aid in root cause analysis or production optimization.
  • Provide technical leadership sufficient to challenge assumptions, guide decisions, and support timely escalation and resolution when needed.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to product and process design to improve quality, cost, and manufacturability.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Process, Plastics, Materials, or related field) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing or process
  • Minimum of 3 years of engineering leadership or management experience
  • Strong background in lean/continuous improvement tools and methodologies
