Convenience Store Manager at East End Lube LLC – Costa Mesa, California
About This Position
We’re looking for a high-energy, results-driven Convenience Store Manager who loves to win, runs a tight operation, and builds great teams. This role owns the day-to-day performance of our small convenience store including fuel operations—driving sales, keeping the store fully stocked and guest-ready, and ensuring a safe, compliant, and efficient environment for both customers and employees.
Key Responsibilities – What You’ll Own and Drive
- Own store performance (sales, margin, shrink, inventory levels, and overall execution)
- Lead and develop the team: recruit, hire, train, schedule, and hold the team accountable to service and performance expectations
- Run daily operations: open/close routines, cash handling, daily checklists, and consistent store standards
- Deliver a great customer experience: keep the store clean, organized, and welcoming; resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally
- Manage inventory and ordering: maintain in-stocks on key items, place orders, receive product, rotate stock, and minimize waste
- Merchandising and execution: ensure strong displays, pricing accuracy, and a well-presented store that drives impulse purchases
- Use data to improve results: review POS trends, high/low sellers, and opportunities; implement promotions, pricing adjustments, and assortment changes to grow revenue
- Fuel operations ownership: oversee pump readiness, coordinate basic maintenance needs, track fuel inventory, and maintain compliance with environmental and safety requirements
- Compliance and safety: maintain compliance with all required standards (health/safety, food handling where applicable, fuel procedures, and required postings)
- Financial discipline: manage controllable expenses, support reporting, and take action to improve performance
- 3+ years of store leadership experience in convenience, retail, QSR, or hospitality (fuel experience strongly preferred)
- Strong record of driving results through sales execution, inventory control, and team leadership
- Comfortable using POS reports and operational metrics to make decisions and improve performance
- Solid understanding of cash handling, shrink control, ordering, and merchandising standards
- Hands-on leader who can work on the floor—stocking, cleaning, receiving deliveries, and supporting peak times
- Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks associated with retail operations
- Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays when the business needs you most
