Section II Summary of Job Function
Performs a range of duties specific to the Clinical Laboratory study and diagnosis of bleeding and clotting coagulation disorders,
Oversees other medical technologists affiliatedwith special coagulation,
Section III Job Qualifications
Has education and experience equivalent to the guidelines mandated by HCFA in the Clinical Lab Improvement Act CLIA of 1988 and NJSDH requirements,
Job Specific Requirements
Access information and enter data using the Laboratory Information System LIS,
Perform billing for tests and interpretation,
Accommodate special situations to ensure efficient and proper handling of specimens
Acquire specimens from a central processing unit for testing of inpatients, outpatient clinics and outside referral sources for testing,
Daily, monthly or yearly, as required, preventative maintenance on all instruments and technical equipment in compliance with approved laboratory practice,
Maintain records
Monitor inventory of all supplies and reagents,
Purchase as necessary, receive, date and restock reagents and supplies,
Monthly, submit handwritten accounting to Department of Laboratories of all testing done for the purpose of fund transfer,
Maintain statistics for grant reporting,
Perform quality control, validation and proficiency studies to comply with all regulatory agencies,
Review and submit for Director s approval,
Maintain all records,
Perform venipuncture and or bleeding time tests when necessary,
Performs a range of high complexity tests employing a variety of methods including manual and automated procedures,
Performs judgments that maintain or improve quality of service and or reduce costs,
Respond to other duties as assigned by director,
Respond to patients inquires and follow through with results,
Redirect inquires, if necessary, so that an answer is received,
Responsible for writing and updating policies in conjunction with medical director,
Submits laboratory results for Director s review,
Maintains all records as confidential,
Supervise and train coagulation laboratory staff,
Educate residents during clinical rotation,
