JOB SUMMARY
As HSE Specialist, you will work directly with the HSE Director, Human Resources, Payroll, Operations Managers, Supervisors, and Driver Managers to ensure compliance with HSE (Health Safety Environment) regulations by driving continuous improvement in Heidelberg’s HSE training, standards and programs.
Requirements:JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Training
- Assist HSE Director in the implementation launch of new-hire safety training in Paylocity
- Oversee new-hire safety training monitoring test results and feedback for continuous improvement
- Assist HSE Director in developing universal training programs for Operations safety sensitive positions such as: Forklift training, Manual Lifting training, Delivery Driver training, Ergonomics training, etc.
- Suggest for each training program developed methods to best deploy, track, and monitor results
Compliance
- Conduct quarterly workplace HSE audits of all HDC warehouse locations with the Operations Vice President and HSE director
- Conduct an annual review of each location’s EAP (Emergency Action Plan) review the ERT (Emergency Response Team) roster to ensure it is current and all individuals are identified and competent in their roles
- Provide ongoing support to maintain driver qualification files (medical card, DL, MVR, etc.) within Lee Trans
- Assist in administering the substance abuse testing program to ensure compliance with FMCSA and company standards. IE- Work with Driver Managers to facilitate on site random quarterly testing
- Work with Ops Managers, Supervisors, and Driver Managers to maintain compliance within Lee Trans
- Review DVIR results daily cite trends and work with Driver Managers to resolve ongoing issues
- Work with KARMA leads, IT and HSE Director to develop a KARMA survey for mobile equipment pre-shift inspections
- File new injury or auto claims with appropriate TPA in the absence of HSE Director. Work with Ops or Sales managers to capture and upload all supporting documents
- Provide secondary support to Auto and Workers Compensation TPA inquiries
- Provide secondary support to HR and Payroll departments to assist communicate Workers Compensation leave status
- Work with Ops manager’s in all locations to understand their chemical inventories at their respective location, update hardcopy MSD binder and enroll each site in online MSD program
- Lead Safety Ambassadors program with weekly questionnaire in Microsoft Forms, examine data collected to identify trends and post, bring concerns to Ops managers attention. Hold monthly meetings to discuss new initiatives, common concerns, current safety issues and trends identified
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- 2+ years HSE relevant experience- required
- Credentialed in field of HSE (IE-CSP, ASP, COSS, CSHO)- preferred
- Post-secondary, education, preferably in the behavioral sciences or specific to Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment – Preferred
- Working knowledge of applicable regulatory codes: OSHA, EPA, NFPA, FMSCA
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Teams, VIP, Idig, KARMA, and related reporting software
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license
- High school diploma or GED required
- Excellent communication, training, presentation and leadership skills
- Strong organization, decision making, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to coordinate tasks and work independently
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- This position operates in a professional office environment but some travel and on-site work in a warehouse environment. Expected hours of work are Monday through Friday during the Company’s regular business hours; but also includes regular site visits. Regular, consistent attendance is required
