Overview
Cobb EMC has an exciting opportunity for a Vice President, Financial Services. The VP of Financial Services oversees core financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and strategic financial planning. This role manages accounting, budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting, tax, treasury, audits, and payroll functions.
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Responsibilities
What you will be doing:
Accounting
- Oversee full spectrum of accounting operations including general ledger, month-end and year-end closing. AP, AR and financial reporting
- Ensure accounting functions adhere to generally accepted accounting principles and FASB standards
- Ensure accurate monthly and annual financial statements
- Review monthly financial reports and Board presentations
- Manage controls frameworks and ensure compliance
- Lead coordination with internal and external auditors, support audit execution
- Implement and document new accounting procedures as pronouncements are required
- Research and implement process improvements and innovations
- Lead annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting and variance analysis cycles
- Lead long-range plan forecasting and partner with leadership to ensure company strategy aligns with financial goals
- Review and Present financial budgets, forecasts and insights to senior management and/or the Board
- Analyze key trends and performance metrics to identify opportunities and mitigate risks
Tax & Compliance
- Direct overall payroll operations, ensuring coordination with HR and IT, and compliance with federal and state regulations
- Oversee preparation and timely filing of federal and state tax returns
- Review Annual Patronage Allocation, and present to Board for approval
- Review Annual IRS Member Income Test (85/15 Rule)
- Supervise treasury functions including liquidity planning, cash forecasting, and optimizing banking relationships
- Oversee investment strategy, debt issuance and covenant compliance
- Handle all aspects of employment for subordinate staff, including hiring, promotion, training, and termination
- Appropriately document actions on employment issues
- Coach and direct learning through direct involvement and reinforcement
- Analyze and manage daily workload and schedules
- Monitor performance and conduct performance planning and review sessions
- Ensure fair and consistent treatment of departmental employees

Special Projects
- Drive process improvements, automation, and financial system enhancements
- Lead special projects as assigned by the senior staff
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
Minimum 15 years of experience in finance and/or accounting field.
Minimum 10 years of experience in finance leadership roles.
Proven expertise in the fundamentals of accounting and finance.
Familiarity with FASB standards and the Internal Revenue Code.
Proven expertise in budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning.
Understanding of payroll laws and regulations.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Proficiency with ERP systems and Budgeting software
PREFERRED:
Previous utility industry or cooperative experience, knowledge of FERC accounting requirements.
Previous treasury experience.
Certified Public Accountant
Masters of Business Administration or related field
