POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Senior Network Engineer role acts as a network team lead, mentoring and supporting junior Network Administrators and Engineers. Supports the bank local and wide area networks, which includes the design, configuration, installation, diagnostics, repairing and maintenance of bank network and server equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance for junior network administrators and engineers
  • Team lead for implementing complex and routine short and long range projects related to network systems, software, hardware, upgrades and infrastructure
  • Day to day administration and maintenance of bank local and wide area network infrastructure, including network equipment, software, circuits
  • Administrative duties related to the VoIP communications infrastructure and associated systems, including phones, voice recordings, call center software, and other collaboration tools
  • Conduct network and systems upgrades, including switches, routers, servers, phones, battery backups, and other network related equipment
  • Schedules network maintenance and server downtime to be performed during off-peak hours
  • Properly notifies users and affected vendors of any scheduled outages via standard Change Management processes
  • Reacts and responds to outages in a timely manner, providing excellent transparency and flow of communication while troubleshooting and/or escalating appropriately
  • Develops and maintains technical documentation for the department
  • Tracks and maintains inventories for software, hardware, and other equipment
  • Conducts regular disaster recovery and business continuity tests
  • On Call duty rotations
  • Provides high level technology support, serving as an escalation path for peer technology groups such as the help-desk and application support teams, if and when they encounter issues beyond their means or outside the scope of their responsibility
  • Occasional in-state travel required and occasional evenings and weekends
  • Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of the position

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Cisco Routing and switching, including configuration and troubleshooting of routers and switches, understanding of EIGRP or OSPF routing protocols, familiarity with VPN tunneling
  • Advanced understanding of networking fundamentals and the OSI model
  • Ethernet cabling, termination, and advanced understanding of structured cabling design
  • Understanding of wireless networks, site surveys
  • Basic understanding of project management and coordination
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and implement effective solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • 6 plus years of experience as a Network Administrator Engineer or related IT field

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Cisco: Nexus, ACI, DNA, VoIP, Call Manager
  • VMWare: ESXI 6.7 & 7.0, Dell/EMC server and storage hardware
  • Solarwinds Orion, Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, SQL, Veeam, Linux servers, Information Security, KACE, Mobile Iron
  • WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

    Routinely mentors, directs, collaborates and assists with the activities of other Network Administrators/Engineers, and other IS Support Staff. May provide consultation on complex projects and is considered to be a top level contributor/specialist. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

    Internal:

    • Assists and mentors other IS staff members, when necessary, in order to resolve issues
    • Communications with departmental and business unit managers
    • May facilitate and lead presentations to senior management

    External:

    • Develops relationships with vendors related to project goals and cost effective IS operations

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Constant use of computer screens

    Ability to operate a computer keyboard, use hand to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk, see or hear

    Intermittently standing, stooping, bending at the waist, walking, kneeling or crouching

    Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time during the workday


    Long periods of typing and repetitive motion


    Ability to lift and/or move and carry 20 pounds
