Job Overview:

The Employee Relations Manager is responsible for leading the organization’s employee relations function and serving as a primary authority for employee complaints, workplace investigations, and high-risk people decisions. This role leads the assessment, investigation, and resolution of complex employee relations matters.

This position operates with a high degree of autonomy and discretion and is accountable for outcomes that directly impact employee trust, management effectiveness, and organizational risk. The role requires advanced judgment, deep understanding of employment law, and the ability to influence leaders through complex, sensitive, and often escalated situations.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Lead the end-to-end management of all significant employee relations matters across the organization
  2. Independently conduct and oversee complex, sensitive, and high-risk workplace investigations, including allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and serious policy violations
  3. Evaluate credibility, assess risk, and determine findings using sound judgment and defensible methodology
  4. Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations
  5. Interpret and apply HR policies with consistency and fairness across the enterprise
  6. Produce comprehensive investigation reports and executive-ready summaries with clear recommendations
  7. Partner with management on cases with elevated risk or exposure
  8. Establish and maintain ER case management practices, documentation standards, and tracking metrics
  9. Analyze ER trends and proactively recommend corrective actions, training, or policy changes
  10. Promote company norms of trust, respect, and fairness enabling a culture of belonging and open communications.

Job Requirements │ Skills │ Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or a related field
  • 5-7+ years of progressive HR experience with deep, hands-on employee relations and investigation expertise
  • Previous experience in managing difficult situations and leading complex investigations with diplomacy and discretion
  • Advanced knowledge of federal and state employment laws and ER best practices, with experience supporting a multi‑site environment.
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and make high-impact recommendations
  • Exceptional judgement and emotional intelligence
  • Excellent Analytical Skills (ability to identify the root cause of problems/opportunities and determine possible solutions)
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

Physical and Intellectual Requirements:

Manual dexterity for manipulating small items; regularly lift at least 50 pounds throughout each shift and to be able to lift 75 pounds on occasion. Able to handle standing, walking and sitting for 4+ hours with limited rest intervals; good eye-hand coordination; fair eyesight (with or without correction lenses); normal hearing in at least one ear (hearing range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz); ability to analyze situations, set priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced and dynamic environment; effective organizational skills; a commitment to continuous learning; an ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
