Clinical Nurse Educator at Jefferson County Health Center – Fairfield, Iowa
About This Position
POSITION OVERVIEW (non-exempt):
The Clinical Educator functions as a link between current patient care and the instructional needs of JCHC workforce. This role will help design, deliver, and evaluate educational programs for clinical staff to ensure high-quality, evidence-based patient care closing the gap between theoretical knowledge gained academically and the practical application of skills in a dynamic clinical setting. This role will collaborate with leaders assessing competencies, support professional development, and promote adherence to standards as well as helping staff to work at the top of their licensure and/or certification. Assist in supporting and increasing staff engagement and promoting staff retention. Will work to support organizational goals for patient safety, procedural efficiency, and staff development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, with current Iowa RN license.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) required.
- Master’s degree in nursing (MSN) or related field preferred.
- Critical Care experience preferred.
- BLS required, ACLS and PALS required within 3 months of hire.
- TNCC & NRP preferred, must be willing to obtain within 12 months of starting position.
- Minimum 3-5 years clinical experience.

POSITION-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Develop and implement orientation and ongoing education for licensed and unlicensed staff
- Ability to identify learning needs, develop and implement educational strategies, and participate in learning effectiveness evaluation.
- Use diverse teaching methods: classroom, hands-on, simulation, and e-learning.
- Exhibit leadership skills and ability to coach and develop staff to maintain and promote quality and affect change.
- Assess staff competencies upon hire and annually.
- Ensure adherence to accreditation standards, hospital policies, and clinical guidelines.
- Partners with unit leaders to identify educational needs and performance gaps.
- Coaches and mentors’ staff to foster professional growth and quality improvement.
- Program Development & Evaluation.
- Design evidence-based curricula tailored to department needs.
- Evaluate effectiveness of educational interventions and adjusts accordingly.
- Serve as a resource for best practices and clinical updates.
- Contribute to the development of policies and procedures that support best practice in patient care.
- Must have the ability to prioritize initiatives, problem solve and think critically.
- Must have highly developed verbal and written communication skills and ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment.
- Must maintain current knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
- Comply with all policies and standards.

- Moderate to loud noise environment when machines/equipment in use.
- Involvement in checking in/moving of supplies may result in unavoidable work-related injury.
- Must be constantly alert for patient/family emergency situations.
