Schneider is seeking a Terminal Manager in Chesapeake to be accountable for acquiring capacity, maintaining safety standards and growing customer relationships for a localized area. The Terminal Manager will develop strategic plans, provide coaching and ensure the terminal is operating productively.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, coaching and training to a team of associates.
- Develop an annual budget, strategic business goals and action plans that promote profitable growth for the region.
- Ensure freight is being serviced by developing choice tendering processes and procedures.
- Drive effective, low-cost results by identifying, implementing and monitoring key business metrics.
- Review customer lanes for profitability.
- Establish a strategic capacity plan, and engage capacity sourcing and third-party carriers to achieve the plan.
- Support the growth of new and existing customer accounts.
- Build collaborative relationships with departments across the organization, including sales, customer service, revenue management, recruiting and finance.
- Establish relationships with local ramp and port operations managers.
Skills and qualifications:
- Associate degree in business, transportation, logistics, supply chain or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of transportation experience, including leadership experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Able to influence others.
