Staff Nurse at University Health System- San Antonio – San Antonio, Texas

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides direct patient care to assigned patients in the inpatient setting, collaborates with other departments and begins process of proactive thinking when implementing the plan of care. Serves as mentor to staff nurse and ancillary personnel; Receives mentoring from Staff Nurse II and III, Nurse Educator and Patient Care Coordinator. .

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

BSN is preferred. Minimum of one year pediatric experience required. Verification of course completion in accordance with all American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support and Health Care Provider guidelines is required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support training required for Inpatient Pediatrics within one year of hire, and maintain thereafter. Employees hired on or before February 2024 must obtain AHA PALS training and certification by December 2024.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

Current license from the Board of Nurse Examiners of the State of Texas to practice as a registered nurse is required. Must have a current BLS Healthcare Provider or AHA BLS Instructor Provider card. Must obtain AHA PALS Certification within one year of hire, and maintain thereafter.
