This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the growth of innovative food ingredients in a rapidly expanding market. You will be responsible for building relationships with high-value customers, driving adoption of novel protein solutions, and translating technical capabilities into tangible business outcomes. The position combines strategic account management, hands-on deal execution, and cross-functional collaboration with R&D, marketing, and supply chain teams. You will influence both the commercial success of products and the broader direction of market engagement. This role is ideal for a self-motivated, entrepreneurial sales professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.

Accountabilities:
  • Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities across food and ingredient sectors, managing the full sales cycle from first contact to purchase order.
  • Collaborate with internal technical and applications teams to design solutions that meet customer needs and ensure seamless onboarding and scaling.
  • Engage key decision-makers across R&D, marketing, procurement, and leadership to drive adoption of innovative protein products.
  • Develop and execute outreach strategies across priority regions and product categories to accelerate market penetration.
  • Manage forecasting, pipeline development, and deal progression with accuracy and urgency.
  • Represent the brand externally, articulating functional, cost, and sustainability benefits to customers, distributors, and partners.
  • Gather and share customer insights and market intelligence to inform product development and strategic initiatives.
Requirements:
  • 5–10 years of business development, sales, or commercial experience in the food, ingredient, or related B2B sector.
  • Strong knowledge of food product development cycles, commercialization processes, and customer decision-making structures.
  • Demonstrated success generating leads, managing pipelines, and closing complex B2B deals.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence both technical and commercial audiences.
  • Strategic, analytical mindset with the ability to translate technical product value into measurable business outcomes.
  • Hands-on, self-starting, and able to thrive in ambiguity while moving quickly to capture opportunities.
  • Experience with CRM systems (Hubspot, Salesforce, or equivalent).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Food Science, Marketing, or related field (MBA is a plus).
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred: Experience with fermentation-derived proteins, food ingredients, startup environments, or existing networks in food R&D and procurement. Experience managing or mentoring sales or business development teams is also a plus.
Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary of $150,000–$180,000 with bonus and stock options.
  • 100% medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) matching.
  • Flexible PTO and 10+ paid company holidays per year.
  • Weekly catered lunches, unlimited sparkling water, coffee, snacks, and granola bars.
  • Gym access, free parking, and wellness perks including FSA/HSA, pet care, and additional life insurance.
  • Opportunities for professional development, mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Flexible, supportive work environment with transparent communication and direct access to leadership.
