About This Position

Position Title: Powder Coat Painter

FullTime Hourly OnSite Day Shift (5:00am3:30pm Monday to Thursday, Overtime on Friday as needed)

We are seeking a skilled Powder Coat Painter to operate electrostatic painting equipment and ensure highquality finishes on metal workpieces. This role uses cone, disk, and nozzletype electrostatic systems to apply negatively charged paint particles to positively charged parts.
As a Powder Coat Painter, you play a key role in keeping parts moving smoothly through our powder coating process. Youll help ensure highquality finishes, safe handling of materials, and consistent production flow in a fastpaced environment. The ideal candidate is detailoriented, safetyfocused, and able to work independently in a fastpaced production environment.

What Youll Do Painting & Production Operations
  • Operate electrostatic painting equipment, adjusting switches, dials, and flow controls.
  • Set and monitor pressure gauges, paint flow, and spray patterns.
  • Adjust booth temperature and paint tank thermostats as needed.
  • Prepare parts for paint (plugging, taping, cleaning).
  • Hang parts using correct hooks and spacing; dehang and stack finished parts safely.
  • Inspect coated parts for defects such as runs, sags, and unpainted areas.
  • Correct coating flaws by adjusting valves, flow rates, and spray patterns.
  • Clean paint booths, spray heads, hoses, hooks, grids, and surrounding areas.
  • Mix paint to specifications using a viscometer; adjust for atmospheric conditions.
  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining tank pH levels; complete required chemical testing.
  • Record wastewater discharge, pH levels, and manometer readings.
  • Change filters as needed and maintain equipment cleanliness.
  • Safely operate hoists, forklifts, and power buggies as assigned.
  • Maintain careful handling of all tools, equipment, and machinery.
  • Support other paint line operations as assigned.
  • Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
Skill Requirements
  • Knowledge of color codes and correct parts requiring capping or plugging.
  • Ability to measure paint thickness (goal: 25 mils).
  • Recognize upcoming color changes without reference materials.
  • Paint independently without supervision.
  • Troubleshoot and correct powder flow issues.
  • Open, close, and maintain the powder booth and dust collection systems.
  • Paint complex or problem parts with minimal rework (1+ week standard).
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Industrial painting experience required; powder coating experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in the paint booth for a full 10hour shift.
  • Ability to perform chemical concentration and pH testing.
Skills & Abilities
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with leads, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to follow written, verbal, or diagrammed instructions.
  • Problemsolving skills in standardized situations.
  • Ability to operate hand tools, air tools, and hoists.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, and manual handling.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Ability to stand up to 10 hours in a fastpaced environment.
  • Visual requirements: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception.
  • Exposure to chemicals such as cleaners, acid wash, lacquer-based paint, etc.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator and forcedair respirator suit.
  • Noise levels vary by area:
    • Powder coat booth: moderate (hearing protection not required)
    • Paint line and wet booth: loud (hearing protection required)
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Pay wage: $21.00 / Hour
