Salary: $60,000- $75,000

Position Summary
The Senior Accountant supports the Controller in overseeing the accounting and financial operations of our furniture manufacturing organization. This role serves as a key deputy to the Controller and is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, assisting with cost accounting and inventory controls, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal controls.
While experience in furniture manufacturing is not required, the successful candidate must be comfortable operating in a manufacturing environment and able to quickly understand production, inventory, and cost-related financial processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Senior Accountant's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist the Controller with the oversight of daily accounting operations, including general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial statements
- Assist with manufacturing cost accounting, including inventory valuation, standard costs, variances, and work-in-process (WIP) reporting
- Help maintain controls over raw materials, finished goods, and inventory movements within a furniture manufacturing setting
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities in coordination with the Controller
- Assist with internal and external audits, including preparation of schedules, documentation, and audit support
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company accounting policies, and internal controls
- Provide guidance and support to accounting staff, including review of work and assistance with problem resolution
- Assist with system implementations, process improvements, and efficiency initiatives within the accounting function
- Serve as backup to the Controller as needed and help ensure continuity of accounting operations
- Perform other accounting and financial duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to cost accounting, inventory accounting, or plant-level financial operations
- CPA or CMA certification (or progress toward certification)
- Prior experience supporting audits or working closely with external auditors
- Experience supervising or mentoring accounting staff
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to communicate effectively with operations, management, and finance personnel
- Ability to work collaboratively while also exercising sound independent judgment
- Professional discretion when handling confidential financial information
