Mile High Early Learning is seeking an Assistant Director for one of our center locations in Denver. The Assistant Director supports all aspects of center operations. The center administrative team, comprised of Director, Assistant Director, and a Family Advocate, all work to ensure that the center maintains a high-quality early childhood education program and sustains a positive, safe and healthy center environment where children, parents and staff thrive. This is a Head Start and Early Head Start funded program.

Responsibilities for the Assistant Director include:

  • Assist the Center Director with maintaining compliance with CO Child Care licensing, the Department of Health, Head Start, and CACFP regulations
  • Support the oversight of daily staffing and maintenance of adult/child ratios
  • Ensure adherence to policy and procedures
  • Monitor the staff's professional development hours and documentation
  • Participate in the evaluation and performance appraisal of teaching staff
  • Attend, and occasionally lead, monthly staff meetings
  • Alternatively open and/or close the center
  • Encourage and support parent engagement
  • Conduct new parent orientation
  • Work closely with team members to create and deliver parent engagement events
  • Assist teachers with home visits and parent teacher conferences
  • Work as a team with family services and teaching staff throughout the program
  • Ensure adherence to policies and procedures

Requirements:

Required and preferred qualifications for the Assistant Director:

  • CDHS Center Director Certificate OR Level 3 or higher PDIS/CO Shines Professional Credential
  • AA in Early Childhood Education or related field (BA/BS preferred)
  • Experience with child care regulatory requirements
  • Flexibility to work an alternating schedule that will include opening (7am) and closing (5:30pm) center hours and occasional evenings and weekends
  • Pass CBI & FBI background check, post-employment medical examination and drug screen
  • Effective verbal, written and oral communication skills
  • Minimum two years experience in an early childhood setting
  • Working knowledge of Head Start standards and licensing standards (preferred)
  • Minimum two years’ experience in a supervisory position (preferred)
  • Bilingual Spanish (preferred)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
