Mammography Technologist - Radiology-Diagnostic, Per Diem

GENERAL SUMMARY
- Provides diagnostic imaging services according to accepted standards and protocols and assures patient safety during procedures.

FUNCTIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General Diagnostic Procedures:
- Performs all diagnostic procedures following policies and procedures established by the department.
- Adjusts patient care based on age-specific needs.
- Uses all equipment properly and in a manner that minimizes hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients.
- Determines most suitable position and shields patient for optimum imaging and patient comfort.
- Follows ALARA principle (staff and patient shielding).
- Explains procedures and responds to questions appropriately.
- Scans paperwork into the PAC’s System.
- Maintains working knowledge of the PAC’s System.
- Demonstrates knowledge of CD Burning.
- Completes patient charges for each exam in a timely manner.
- Transports patients to and from the department.
- Maintains a clean and orderly environment.

Special Diagnostic Testing:
- Demonstrates competency in performing all procedures and use of the equipment for CAT Scans and/or Mammography, as appropriate and assigned.
- Keeps dose as low as possible to achieve diagnostic exam.

Administrative:
- Uses computer to access reports.
- Follows protocols for releasing of images.
- Assists with administrative responsibilities of the department to include scheduling appointments, answering the phone, etc.
- Performs all quality controls procedures daily as assigned and maintains appropriate logs.
- Participates in annual surveys and inspections.
- Able to teach/aid students.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- 0-1 year
- Hospital experience preferred
- Experience

Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of radiology technology
- Registered/licensed with American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT)
- Or equivalent in education and experience
- COMPENSATION:
- Minimum pay: $35.60
- Maximum pay: $55.18
