Position Overview:
The nurse participates in assuring the implementation of the established health care plan(s) for a specified number of clients as delegated and supervised by the RN. Implementation is limited to the care of clients whose health status would be expected to change only over a period of days and weeks, rather than minutes and hours. This role is directly responsible for arranging, completing, and analyzing data related to wound care under the direction of a physician. At minimum completing weekly wound care documentation, communicating all changes to the overseeing physician and providing weekly wound reports to the Director of Nursing. The nurse functions as the 'nurse-in-charge' role may legally delegate nursing care activities to another practical nurse or to unlicensed assistive personnel (nurse aides) only when all of the following criteria are met: a) qualifications of personnel to whom nursing activities may be delegated have been validated by the RN; b) a RN is continuously available for notification of significant changes in client status, consultation regarding further evaluation and care planning decisions and on-going supervision of all personnel implementing nursing care; c) the nurse participates in on-going observations of clients and evaluation of clients' responses to nursing actions; d) the nurse maintains accountability for self and by all other personnel to whom such care is delegated; e) supervision by the nurse is limited to the validation that tasks have been performed as delegated and according to established standards of care within the practice setting.

Position Highlights:

  • Shift Differentials: $2.50 - $5.00 per hour

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Holds a current North Carolina license as a RN or LPN. Trained in the standards of DFS, Federal Medicare Regulations & Medicaid Regulations for long term care. Must be able to work under the direction of an RN; follow written or verbal instruction effectively; calculate, administer medications & perform treatment according to Brantwood Nursing Center policies & procedures; monitor effectively the care of the patient & assure adequate care is administered by CNA's. Participates in educational classes, completes educational in-services, updates and maintains professional knowledge and skills related to areas of practice. Position accountable for delivery of patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN). Certified in CPR. Responsible for all duties as assigned by DON or designee.
