Field Respiratory Therapist at Independence Plus – Oak Brook, Illinois

Independence Plus is now hiring a full-time Respiratory Therapist. This is a field position based out of our Oak Brook, IL (DuPage County) office, covering the Chicago, IL area.

The Respiratory Therapist (RT) is responsible for providing advanced Respiratory Care Services to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. The RT plans, implements, and evaluates the effectiveness and appropriateness of Respiratory Care Services.

Responsibilities include following the plan of care, head to toe patient assessment, and detailed education to patients and families. The RT works collaboratively with the members of the respiratory/nursing team to ensure that positive patient care outcomes are realized.

Essential job functions / responsibilities

• Looking for Respiratory Therapists to conduct patient assessments in our northern Illinois market
• Communicates with the patient's physician regarding changes in condition and/or needs; makes recommendations as appropriate
• Acts as a liaison between Independence Plus and the patient/client, family, trained caregiver, physician, and other healthcare agencies and staff involved
• Provides patient and family/caregiver education and information pertinent to diagnosis and plan of care

• Possession of current Illinois license as a Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (dual Illinois/Wisconsin license a plus)
• Respiratory home care experience preferred
• Critical care experience preferred
• Thorough knowledge and skills related to respiratory care field
• Demonstration of good verbal and written communication skills in English
