Job description:

Paralegals perform substantive billable legal work under the direction of the Partners or other attorneys in the office. A Paralegals goal is to relieve the attorney(s) she works for of a portion of the tasks involved in the practice of law, so the attorneys can focus on more substantive and valuable tasks. A Paralegal provides billable services to clients at a lower rate than an attorney, providing a benefit to the Firm's clients.

Responsibilities: Maintain pleadings, discovery indexes and case files Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics etc.) Filling out legal forms Drafting letters and simple court documents Drafting divorces by customizing standard forms Preparing contracts by customizing standard forms Writing reports and legal documents Research laws and judicial decisions, about current as well as past cases Helping attorneys prepare cases for trial Drafting corporate bylaws/operating agreements. Reviewing pending legislation Drafting motions and other court documents Preparing discovery and responses to discovery demands Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices Gather relevant information from a variety of sources State/Federal filing in the State of Florida, New York, Texas, Maryland, Washington, D.C. Liaise between attorneys and various external third-party vendors. Finalize format and exhibits to pleadings, motions, etc. before filing.

Skills:

Experience with Federal court rules and litigation matters, such as personal disputes.

Complex litigation experience

At least 3 years as a litigation paralegal

Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus, though not mandatory.
