About This Position

Office RN - Specialty Procedures

  • GENERAL SUMMARY
    • The Office RN – Specialty Procedures works in collaboration with physicians and other health care team members to facilitate optimal outcomes for patients undergoing outpatient specialty procedures. Collaborates with the physician to provide developmentally appropriate patient care using the nursing process, and applies knowledge, skill and critical thinking necessary to support and provide services to patients requiring and undergoing specialty procedures within scope of practice. Reports to departmental management.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Provides staff, patient, and family education and support based on identification of specialty disorders.
    • Arranges insurance pre-certification for a variety of outpatient procedures and supports procedure scheduling processes.
    • Coordinates and assists with pre, intra and post specialty procedures.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
    • Current Virginia state license as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse holding a valid Compact State license.
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • BSN preferred.
    • Three to five years of specialty practice and pediatric experience preferred.
    • CPR training and PALS training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
    • Must provide record of a completed diploma (or equivalent) or academic transcript for those areas performing complexity testing.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Normal patient care environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Frequent exposure to communicable disease and moderately adverse working conditions due to performance of certain patient care activities.
