Position Overview:

The Accounts Receivable Specialist supports the organization’s mission by ensuring timely, accurate billing, collections, and revenue recording. Reporting to the Accounts Receivable Supervisor, this role is responsible for preparing and issuing invoices, processing receipts, monitoring accounts, and participating in collection and reconciliation activities in accordance with established accounting policies and internal controls.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, service-minded, and understands the critical role strong financial stewardship plays in supporting a mission-driven or nonprofit organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and issue monthly invoices.
  • Create and input receipts using information from multiple banking and donation/payer websites.
  • Monitor accounts and make collection calls on outstanding invoices and handle disputed invoices.
  • Escalate collections issues appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Works closely with the Accounts Receivable Supervisor on revenue recognition and allocation and maintains financial security by adhering to internal controls.
  • Conducts account research and analysis

Qualifications:

  • AA Degree or equivalent in accounting or a related field; and
  • one or more years related experience in accounts receivable and general ledger reconciliations, or
  • equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • ERP accounting software experience preferred.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret accounting journals, financial reports and other documents commonly used in account or administration functions.
  • Strong financial and record keeping skills.
  • Non-profit experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate a ten key calculator and work with MSOffice products, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information and situations.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit or stand for long periods.
  • The employee frequently is required to use hands to hold objects and operate office equipment
  • The employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move 25 pounds.
