About This Position
SCHEDULER SPECIALIST/INSURANCE VERIFICATION
High School Diploma or GED required. Some college or business courses preferred.
Experience:
Experience in a hospital or medical setting preferred. Experience with computers is preferred.
Language/Communication Skills:
English required. Multilingual capabilities enhance the ability to perform this job. Must have the ability to speak effectively and professionally to all staff, medical staff and the public at all levels from elementary to professional.
Mathematical Skills:
Skills in adding and subtracting two-digit numbers
Reasoning Ability:
Must have the ability to apply non-judgmental reasoning capabilities whenever necessary when dealing with patients, visitors, and staff. Critical thinking and multitasking skills a must. Must have reasonable reflective thinking focused on deciding what to believe or do. Must possess purposeful, self-regulatory judgment which results in interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and inference, as well as explanation of the evidential, conceptual, methodological, criteriological, or contextual considerations upon which that judgment is based.

Department Specific Competencies:
- Must relate well with hospital staff, medical staff and public
- Practice good patient confidentiality habits by never discussing patient information with anyone, use caution when using the phone and placing documents that need shredding in the container provided.
- Schedules and coordinates patient appointments, obtaining demographic and insurance information including pre-certification information.
- Obtains compliant order for scheduled appointments
- Obtains demographics and insurance information, including pre-certification if required
- Verifies insurance eligibility and medical necessity
- Adheres to and follows the principles of MRHC's Guest Relation Program to Make a Great Impression consistently (Time: Ongoing)
- Re-schedules patients
