MRI Technologist – Radiology Department

Saturday Day-Shift 8a-430p


The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles

Job Summary: Performs various basic and advanced MRI examinations / procedures under the direction of the Staff Radiologist. Utilizes a Siemens 1.5 t Espree MRI system to perform all studies. provides direct patient care and safety to all patients. Performs I.V. injections of approved MRI contrast agents as instructed. Reviews procedures with radiologist as needed / required.

Essential Functions (list in order of importance including measures)

1. Operates a Siemens 1.5 t MRI system to obtain images of anatomical structures for Radiologist interpretation. Selects appropriate coil to obtain specific Imaging examinations. 30%

2. Selects appropriate Imaging techniques and operates console and peripheral hardware; enters and monitors patient data, transfers images from MRI unit to PACS, in correct sequence. Consults with Staff Radiologist prior to and after examination as needed. 30%

3. Performs I.V. injections of appropriate MRI contrast agents. Maintains adequate stock supply of IV contrast at all times. 15%

4. Assures patient safety at all times, including the need to NOT allow ferrous objects within established distance to the magnet. 15%

5. Provides QA & QC data as requested. Maintains appropriate documentation as required to meet established standards. 10%

Marginal Functions (list in order of importance)

Ø Performs both essential and marginal job functions in a safe manner as identified by Saint Anthony Hospital and the respective department while adhering to the Hospital’s confidentiality norms and standards. Actively and consistently demonstrates the core values of Saint Anthony Hospital in all interactions with others.

Ø Assumes responsibility for knowing and maintaining established hospital and departmental objectives, policies/procedures including general sanitation, safety, environmental and infection control standards.

Ø Participates in performance activities including problem identification, data collection, solution selection, implementation and evaluation. Also, assists in the care and maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies as appropriate.

Ø Participates in staff meetings and other in-services, meetings or committees as required. General Job Requirements (List any required knowledge, skills, experiences or training, including length of time necessary for proficiency, required to perform the job.)

Work Experience

  • 1-3 Years+ in MRI

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a 2-year accredited Radiography Program
  • ARRT
  • ARMRIT (or MRI Registry Boards eligible)
  • IEMA Licensure
  • BLS
  • IV certification (preferred)
  • Experience with 1.5 T Espree MRI (preferred)
