QAI Job Number: QAI-ITMANG-05012026JOB TITLE: IT Manager LOCATION: Burnaby, BC (Hybrid) SALARY RANGE: $95,000 to $115,000 annually NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1 CLOSING DATE: Open until filled BACKGROUND:Founded in 1995 by a group of experienced certification and testing experts, QAI is an independent third-party testing, inspection and certification organization which serves the building, technology, and construction industries (among others) with cost effective solutions through our in-house capabilities / services, and an established world-wide network of qualified affiliates. The QAI name and logo have become well recognized throughout the Certification world resulting in steady growth of our Certification, Testing, and Inspection business streams. We are currently building our internal IT function and looking for a hands-on IT Manager to lead day-to-day operations and drive ongoing improvement. The successful candidate will own the network, security, and endpoint environment across our offices, lead a small team, be the technical lead on-site at Burnaby headquarters, and work directly with the President on budget, roadmap, and vendor decisions.

DUTIES: The successful candidate will perform, but not be limited to, the following duties:
- Lead and develop a small internal IT team with both on-site and remote members.Own the network across our North American offices, including firewalls, VPN, wireless, VLANs, and WAN.Administer our Microsoft 365 environment: Entra ID, Conditional Access, Intune, and core productivity services.Own our security posture: MFA, endpoint protection, identity governance, and cyber-insurance compliance.Manage vendor relationships and contracts across our key technology partners.Own the IT budget and provide monthly operations reporting to the President.Partner on automation and AI initiatives delivered through the team.Serve as the on-site technical lead at Burnaby HQ for hardware, meeting-room technology, and escalations.Travel occasionally to our other North American offices for major changes or projects.Other duties as assigned by the manager or its designee.
4 to 7 years of progressive IT experience, with at least 2 years leading a team.Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field or Equivalent experience acceptedStrong Microsoft 365 administration experience: Entra ID, Conditional Access, Intune, SharePoint, Exchange Online.Windows Server and Active Directory experience.Endpoint management through Intune, including Autopilot deployment and device compliance.Core security skills: MFA, Conditional Access, endpoint protection, and managing user access.Experience managing remote team members across time zones.Clear written and verbal communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Ability to work on-site at Burnaby HQ on a regular, hybrid schedule.Authorization to work in Canada.
Preferred: Previous experience moving an organization from an outsourced provider to an internal IT team.Experience in a regulated or certification-heavy environment.Hands-on Microsoft Defender for Business deployment.PowerShell scripting for operational automation.Relevant Microsoft and network certifications (Modern Desktop Administrator, Security Administrator, Cisco CCNA, Sophos or Fortinet certifications, or similar).
Key Technical Competence:Strong leadership and communication skills — able to coordinate with executives and non-technical staff.Strategic thinker with hands-on ability.Independent, self-motivated, and results-driven.Process-oriented and detail-focused.
