Job Description

Since 1984, Share Our Strength® has led the fight against hunger and poverty by inspiring and organizing individuals and businesses to share their strengths. Today, through the No Kid Hungry campaign, Share Our Strength is ending childhood hunger in America by ensuring all children get the healthy food they need. No child should go hungry in America – we’re on our way to making that a reality and we want you to join us. We’re bold, creative, always open to new ideas and 100% dedicated to our mission. If that sounds like you, we’d like you to consider becoming part of our team.

The Summer 2026 International Strategy Intern will be responsible for working directly with the International Strategy team including the Co-Founder to synthesize and analyze data in support of strategic decision making to expand our organization’s ending child hunger mission into India. This position requires prior experience or familiarity in the child hunger and school meals space, and will also work directly with the team to pull out best practices, benchmarks and donor data that will be helpful to further our mission. Additionally, the person in this role will help the fundraising team and team to conduct corporate landscape analysis in India and assist in crafting donor engagement strategies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The International Strategy Intern will concurrently support four-five different workstreams directly contributing to the development of our international strategy:

  • Research for our work in India and other parts of the world. Documenting the leading organizations providing school meals (beyond the ones we know) and reaching kids who are not in school. And beyond school meals, what are the efforts under way engaging the farming community, providing biofortified foods globally, i.e. Harvest Plus… who are they and where are they working.
  • Support for the fundraiser on the team who will be targeting potential corporate sponsors/partners and individual donors in NYC and other markets like Palo Alto and Seattle. There could also be some logistical support for a major fundraising event we are planning for September in NYC.
  • Programmatic research - looking at the Africa coalition and other models sharing best practices between India and other countries like Kenya and South Africa where there are a lot of people from India. We need an assessment of which of our existing or potential partners are also doing work in Kenya and South Africa.
  • Identify state specific policies that could be replicated in India or begin to better inform more of our public policy agenda in India
  • Support in capturing our growing list of contacts and begin to work on a e-newsletter that we can share with range of people we have engaged with on this work in the US and in India.
  • Partnering the EVP and the Co-Founder in creating presentation decks, handouts and other supporting materials for our upcoming events and activities.
  • Completing other related tasks assigned from time to time during the internship.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • College Senior year and post-grad students are encouraged to apply.
  • Prior internship experience in a corporate or non-profit setting will be a plus.
  • Education, training, or experience in Social Studies and international work is preferred.
  • MS Office proficiency and excellent internet research skills are highly desired.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills, including the ability to identify and work through challenges, underscored by strong judgment and emotional intelligence.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on multi-step, detail-oriented projects in a fluid environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience presenting to high-level audiences.
  • Demonstrated interest in anti-hunger/anti-poverty issues, especially in south-Asian countries.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
