The Mountain Sports Guide leads members and guests on outdoor adventures throughout the WPR property. Guides provide safe, educational, and engaging experiences in activities including fishing, hiking, mountain biking, shooting sports, hunting excursions, and ranger tours with a high level of hospitality.

Job Summary:
The Mountain Sports Guide leads members and guests on outdoor adventures throughout the WPR property. Guides provide safe, educational, and engaging experiences in activities including fishing, hiking, mountain biking, shooting sports, hunting excursions, and ranger tours with a high level of hospitality.
Job Duties:
- Leads members and guests on guided outdoor adventures including fishing, hiking, biking, shooting sports, hunting, and ranger tours.
- Communicates directly with members/guests to confirm bookings and tailor activity logistics to individual needs/preferences
- Operates activities reservation system to log bookings
- Conducts safety briefings and enforces all safety standards prior to and during activities.
- Assesses guest ability level and adjusts instruction and pacing accordingly.
- Provides instruction and environmental interpretation appropriate to each activity.
- Ensures proper use, handling, and storage of all equipment.
- Inspects and prepares gear prior to each program and properly stores gear post-program.
- Cleans and performs minor repair/maintenance on gear after each use
- Monitors weather and environmental conditions and modifies plans when necessary.
- Maintains communication with leadership regarding daily operations and special requests.
- Assists in route and program development
- Assists in SOP documentation for program development
- Assists in maintenance of route conditions when needed
- Spends time familiarizing with WPR terrain to become an expert in property locations and conditions
- Submits work orders as needed for equipment repair and maintenance.
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of guide facilities and storage areas.
- Supports special events and club programming as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Licenses and Special Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Current CPR/AED certification required but can be provided by WPR
- Wilderness First Aid (WFA) or Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification preferred.
- Activity-specific certifications preferred for assigned disciplines.
- Pass an annual comprehensive background check.
- Must be legally eligible to guide hunting or shooting sports activities where applicable.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Ability to hike, bike, stand, and move for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow.
- Navigate uneven terrain safely while supervising guests.
- Ability to perform the job in an emergency situation.
- Remain calm and engaged.
- Must be able to operate equipment and vehicles related to program needs.
Classification:
Seasonal, full-time, non-exempt
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma, GED equivalent or higher required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- A minimum of two to five years in a resort, club, hospitality, or outdoor recreation setting preferred.
